After v.02: Going Forwards

GOING FORWARDS

Hello all, figured I'd just drop a post-patch post here. While everyone on the team hopes that you're all enjoying the new patch, we still think there's pain points for the content so far that need to be addressed. Right now, the next update would be in May, pending any delays or real-life occurences, though a hotfix may be pushed out to fix bugs (insert joke here) or re-balance one or two items.

Licenses:

  • Impact-Absorbing Foam (Scarab I) will be reworked or replaced.
    • Feedback for the IAF has become pretty much universal: it's a system that encourages the player to "play less" for the increased durability, which can feel very bad.
    • A rework would still focus on it "making brace better", while an outright replacement would likely be another Shield System of sorts.
  • Laser Cutter (Firefly III) could be bumped up to a Heavy with slightly increased damage to fit with the stat tweaks.

Frames:

  • The Ghost Mantis will probably have a balance pass for its Intangible passive.
    • This is extremely strong, and while it's part of the fantasy for the frame, there needs to be some sort of cost for this, as it massively improves its durability.
  • Firefly is targeted towards a stat rework.
    • In short, the Main/Aux may be swapped out with a Heavy mount for better compatibility/synergy (looking at you, Genghis and Sherman)
    • Armor reduced to 1 in exchange for increasing its base speed by 1 (4) and Evasion by 1 (8).
    • The Firefly has some very strong passives already, so we'll be looking for how this changes its power level compared to the other frames.
  • Weevil:
    • Repair Cap may be increased to 3 at baseline.
    • May be given a "Little Helper" Trait that allows for the Weevil to Attach to allies like the Stag.
    • "Whatever Works, Works" may be moved to a Core Passive and given the clause that it also applies to allies the weevil is attached to.
    • Weevil Core Active will be reworked to be way less janky.

Talents:

  • Artisan is targeted for a rework or outright replacement.
    •  Personally, I'm not too happy with the implementation of it right now, and if we can't find a good alternative for its current iteration, it will probably be replaced by a more interesting talent.
  • Blacksmith is still under watch for any shenanigans.
    • While it's intended to be a support talent, being able to share repairs for a single talent-point dip is very, very strong. That might be moved to its Rank 2 portion, while the +1 repair might be moved to Rank 3 (total Repair increase remains the same).
    • Because of this, Blacksmith 1 may be entirely reworked to do something else.

Well, that's all for now. As always, let us know what you think of the new patch, including what still needs tuning or playtesting.

Until next time,

- Max
