Field Guide To Jovo Prelude: Corprostates
A downloadable TTRPG Supplement
Welcome To Jovo
Jovo: A frontier of frontiers. Barely-settled, and only attracting attention due to its mineral wealth discovered barely a handful of centuries ago, the world is a haven for those wishing to make a new life, to escape an old one, or just to get rich quick. But while corporate espionage occurs between shell companies, a local detachment of Union representatives attempt to live up to ThirdComm’s ideals the best they can, and certain anomalies have begun to appear across and underneath Jovo’s surface. Between bandits and boom towns, prospectors and profiteers, there’s something more to this world.
As the planet's elliptical orbit drags it farther away from its sun into the coming ice age, change is inevitable. Recent developments have caused contact with the Rubbleborn, the posthuman first settlers of this planet, forced into cybernetic augmentation just to stay alive after a cataclysmic event long, long ago. A nano-virus ravages the native fauna, twisting it into technorganic abominations, disrupting its already-hostile ecosystem. As Union's 51st century winds to a close, time itself is a force that cannot be stopped.
But not everything is as it seems: this world is not merely a haven for the illicit, but also the outcast, the forgotten, the discarded. It is a refuge for people and places forgotten by the vast cosmos and the grand, inexorable march of time, sheltered by the anomaly at the heart of an undying star. Secrets of Jovo's past- or perhaps future- lie in wait underneath its surface, ripe for the harvest by actors benevolent and malicious alike.
Everyone comes to Jovo for a reason: to start a new life, to escape an old one, or to make it rich.
What's your reason, Lancer?
Field Guide To Jovo Prelude: Corprostates is a third-party, unofficial supplement for LANCER, intended as part of the larger "Field Guide to Jovo" expansion project. While it contains additional player-facing content, it also provides a sample and primer on the lore that will be included in the Field Guide. All of the content included in this supplement is subject to change as it develops and is playtested. It is best to think of this as an "Early Access" release, intended to gauge interest in the project.
Unlike its fellow FGTJ Prelude pack, Khepri Industrial Equipment, Corprostates focuses on the big movers and shakers of the galaxy: Union, IPS-N, Smith-Shimano Corpro, HORUS, and Harrison Armory. Each has plans for Jovo, caught in a great game of diplomacy, politicking, and subterfuge as an ancient slumber is interrupted.
This supplement includes:
- 4 New Mech Licenses:
- IPS-N Ahab: A close and personal defender, the Ahab wears down its targets with harpoons and radiation to ensure no harm can come to its charges-- even at the cost of itself.
- SSC Skipper: A whirling dance of bullets, the Skipper is here to put on a show with unnatural swiftness.
- HORUS Werewolf: Ever-changing with the whims of the unknowable, the rabid Werewolf fights with claw and curse.
- HA Charlemagne: Hailing from an unschackled future, the Charlemagne tears apart reality and reshapes it to its own will.
- 10 New Core Bonuses (2 GMS, 2 IPS-N, 2 SSC, 2 HORUS, 2 HA)
- 2 New Variant Frames:
- GMS Uncompahgre (GMS Everest): With its eyes in the sky, nothing can hide from the Uncompahgre.
- GMS Ouray (GMS Everest): A stealthy hunter and scout, the Ouray is capable of hitting enemies where it hurts.
- 25 New GMS Weapons
- 20 New GMS Systems
- 3 New Tags: “Cooldown”, “Guided”, “Keen”
- New Pattern: “Volley”
- New Harm Variant: “Radiation”
- 2 New Conditions: "Blinded" and "Dazed".
This is not an exhaustive list of exactly what is contained in the supplement; more may be added or removed as it develops.
A .pdf of the content is included, but there is also a google doc version that will be updated as constantly as possible.
DISCLAIMERS:
This is not a project intended for profit, but instead the result of passion. Our team consists of volunteers who just want to create something interesting for the LANCER tabletop system. Any and all proceeds will be used to fund the creation of new art and other freelance work.

- Addition of new art to expand on what Jovo and its peoples look like (Partially done)

Hey, after peering through ahab thoroughly i wanted to throw some thoughts in case they're wanted
Namely, despite being the only license that focuses on radiation Ahab doesnt really get many benefits of it, only seeing such when his core power is active, a thought me n a friend had was possibly switching the vengeance die to do something with radiation rather than the freebie boost or possibly another trait that Ahab takes halved damage from frames with 3 or more radiation stacks, settled on 3 as it would take sacrificing your lance to get to that immediately and otherwise requires some effort and since radiation can be cleansed entirely in one go.
Otherwise i adore the frame immensely and am in the midst of trying to bribe my DM to let me use it
unrelated note, divine right of kings might warrant a second look or atleast some specifications as currently it allows for some really scuffed fuckery with a trigger happy manticore, and not even with a lot of loss if they've invested into engineering, it might be worthwhile to perhaps limit it to allied characters so solo manticore cant just run in, pop, and come back
(also maybe bump it up to 4 sp, 3 at minimum, 2 for what can function as an un-counterable safety net that can be thrown on anyone is a bit overwhelming)
I'm currently waiting to see how the Ahab (which had a rework right before this was released) shapes out, and Radiation is something we'll be building on with the full Field Guide to Jovo project (I have some plans to backport it into KIE).
As for the Divine Right Of Kings, it's going to get reworked alongside other elements of the Charlemagne license and frame in the next patch. It's a pretty consistent comment that the rewind effect can be used to perform a manticore bomb so I'm definitely on a look out for how to balance it.
Understandable! I look forward to how ahab turns out then, its my personal favorite of the new frames admittedly
And fair on the DROK part, personally i do like the idea of the manticore bombing, hence why my first suggestion was just making it costly, i did have some other thoughts on other paths though if you're any interested
Hey, apologies if this is known but the ahab's weapon mod (Thermic infusion mod) doesn't actually have the ability to be equipped on anything as it lacks tags for the weapon sizes it CAN be used on Edit: specifically in the LCP data i mean
Thanks for letting me know! We'll get it fixed in the v.0.2 patch.
Truesight seems to be missing among the described tags in the v.0.1.1 PDF at the time of this writing!
Thanks for letting me know! I'll get that fixed ASAP.
Alright, it should be fixed in the google doc, and it'll be added to the .pdf in the v.0.2 patch.
