We had a Rules As Intended question concerning Eusocial with respect to the Beetle trait "Sharing is Caring" and whether a 'system' in the rules wording meant a core system or if it meant 'things with an SP cost' or something else ... in part because of corner cases like making an Expanded Compartment tagged eusocial appears to be not RAI (because its non-sensical) while Pattern-B Hex Charges would make sense. And in the case of a weapon like the Pegasus autogun, it feels like you can't tag it as a weapon because it doesn't make normal attacks but it costs 1 SP to mount, so if that makes it count as a system would eusocial let people use the free action it offers?

Excellent question. Apologies it took me a while to answer.

Anything that is a System that can be installed is affected by Eusocial. Note that Eusocial only affects actions provided explictly by a system; Expanded Compartment doesn't provide any effect for eusocial because it just uses the standard Mount/Dismount action, not a bespoke action provided by the system.

As for Autogun, it is a Weapon (just one that happens to have an SP cost), but the Free Action it provides has restrictions on when it can be used (which is "at the end of your turn"). RAW, a Beetle with a Eusocial Autogun would allow for allied characters that are adjacent to it to fire at the end of their turns. Now, that does raise the problem of the Beetle Autogun Death Ball, which is probably more of a meme build rather than any effective strategy.

Thanks for the answer. We were just worried that one interpretation was too stifling and the other was too broad. But this clears up the misconception.

No problem! Please let us know how this ends up working for you, and if you have any rules questions or feedback, we'd love to hear it.

I don't know Beetle Autogun Death Ball but have you heard of a "Gnome Shoulder Cannon"? The idea is smol beetle pretending to be a Horus Goblin with Pegasus LL3 will magclamp onto large friend and become a shoulder-mounted turret while pilot dismounts for Black Thumb shenanigans.

Amazing. I love seeing what sorts of stuff people can come up with.

Hey im using comp/con and for some reason whenever i download the 0.4.0 version it reads it as the 0.3.4 version in the system is that meant to happen or no

That might just be an oversight on our part. The version number probably didn't get updated in the last patch, but it should be up to date otherwise. We'll get it fixed in the next patch.

Ok thank you (I did look thru it and it does appear that it is the wrong version as for example Hercules base health is 10 not 12)

I'm using Comp/Con, and I can't find where the equipment from the Artisan talent is. Are you just supposed to settle with the GM what they do?

The latest patch (v.03.3) appears to have broken Artisan. We'll get it fixed by next patch (and Artisan itself is getting a bit of a rework) but we're still not sure when the next update will be released.

In the meantime, you may need to use the .pdf as a reference. I apologize for the inconvenience; it was something we didn't realize was broken until much later after release.

I cannot find anywhere what the Eusocial tag does, is it just a tag that does nothing but that some features interact with?

Apologies for the late response.

"Any Action or Reaction granted by an EUSOCIAL system can be activated by an adjacent allied character, as long as you allow them to do so. Eusocial weapons can be used to Skirmish or Barrage by adjacent allies as if they had them installed. The owner spends charges and takes heat generated by the system or weapon as normal, while the user provides its own talents, traits, core bonuses and other modifiers for the instance of use." (Page 34)

Essentially the Eusocial tag allows adjacent characters to use a weapon or system you have installed as if they had it installed; there are some clarifications we want to make in the next update about how that interacts with systems that possess Limited Charges or Systems that can be "charged" (such as stasis bolt).

It is, admittedly, a bit confusing in terms of the sheer amount of edge cases that exist, and this has not been designed with other homebrew content in mind, nor content packs such as Dustgrave (it is, at least, fully compatible with all of the First-Party content not written by non-Massif staff).

I hope that helps.

Hey! Very interesting - though thought you should know the Cicada appears in ll1 for Balor in comp/con!

Yeah, that's a bug we're trying to squash.

Sometimes the bugs are features, other times the features are bugs.

Alright!

It should be fixed with the latest patch, aside from a few other miscellaneous fixes (such as correcting a few old/obsolete fluff elements).

Thank you! Grabbed it yesterday!
